Summer Spotlight: Tishonna Williams

How long have you been with Datawatch?
Tishonna has been at Datawatch for nine years. She began her time with Datawatch as a central operator and bounced around through various roles, leading to her current position in the customer service department. Tishonna works as a connecting voice between different departments, possessing knowledge and experience of various responsibilities, staff, and internal software. She enjoys helping coworkers understand the inner workings of other roles within the company, ensuring that the internal operations at Datawatch are smooth
and efficient.  

What is your role within the company? 
Tishonna currently works as installation support with the Virginia team. Specifically, Tishonna works on the installation of our clients’ accounts, ensuring that Datawatch’s internal software is ready to meet whatever a client’s needs may be.   

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? 
Tishonna is motivated by being intentionally present in her life. She wakes up with gratitude and appreciation that enables her to spread her positive energy to everyone she meets. She explains that the simple fact that, “she’s here,” is all the motivation she needs to get her day going.  

Additionally, Tishonna is motivated by her relationships with staff and coworkers. She decided to make it her mission to try to meet every person working in the Datawatch office. She explains that in some environments, coworkers could be working together for years without knowing each other’s names, something she actively works to avoid.  

Could you describe a few of your hobbies? 
Tishonna likes getting out of the house and being active, whether that be through bowling, shopping, or hanging around with her friends and family.  

What are your best methods for dealing with obstacles or stress that come with your role? 
Tishonna finds success in knowing a wide variety of faces around the office. It helps allow for a more interpersonal connection between departments. Furthermore, she explains that she enjoys knowing who she is collaborating with on projects.

She also mentioned that her team often notices whenever she is upset or feeling overwhelmed. Due to her incredible support structure, they can take some of the weight off her shoulders and while allowing her to de-stress. Finally, Tishonna finds that taking a walk outside and separating herself from the ‘physical’ space that induces stress allows her to return with a new and refreshed perspective.  

How has your impression or understanding of Datawatch changed over the past 9 years? 
Tishonna arrived at Datawatch when it was a much smaller company. She found that the atmosphere has changed over the past few years due to Datawatch’s growth, as many new employees and clients have arrived throughout her time. Although Datawatch does not feel quite as small as when Tishonna first arrived, she has been able to grow with the company, fostering relationships with her longtime coworkers while creating a more communal atmosphere for new hires!  

What makes Datawatch special to you? 
Tishonna is a ‘people person’ and enjoys the community of Datawatch. She appreciates a close-knit environment and works to retain these qualities through her friendly interactions with her peers and team.   

Who are some of your biggest inspirations? 
Tishonna’s parents are a large source of pride in her life. Her mother works in the federal government and has accomplished great measures in her respective field, despite not receiving a college education. Furthermore, her father was in the military and retired after a very full and accomplished career.   

Finally, Tishonna is a huge fan of Missy Elliot and the work she has done for women and communities all over America and the world. She will be attending a Missy Elliot concert this summer, which she is excited about doing!  

What is your best office memory? 
Tishonna’s most fond office memory was during a Christmas event towards the beginning of her time at Datawatch. She took a large role in putting together the event and felt that she could bond and mix with the entire Datawatch in one place. They took many great pictures and created endearing memories, kicking off Tishonna’s long commitment to a friendly and inclusive office culture.
