How long have you been with Datawatch?
Brandi is currently approaching her twentieth anniversary working at Datawatch! She began working as an operator and eventually led training for this role. After working in central station management and other roles for some time, Brandi found her way towards more customer service-oriented roles, highlighting her love for client-facing interactions!
Brandi prides herself in her daily interactions with employees and customers alike, always making sure she is building up those around her. This enables her to work efficiently with her team to meet clients’ needs while maintaining an incredibly fun and vibrant atmosphere around the office.
What is your role within the company?
Brandi describes her current role as the liaison between customers and other departments at Datawatch. Her extensive and well-experienced background with Datawatch’s different departments and responsibilities has equipped her with a profound understanding of company operations. Combined with her charisma and wit, Brandi is an incredibly important asset to connecting clients’ needs with employees’ capabilities.
What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?
Brandi has a “go-getter” attitude, waking up and immediately getting active through lifting weights or going on a run. She finds that creating good habits allows one to go on “autopilot,” through integrating her personal goals with her daily routine, causing them to compliment and fuel one another.
Could you describe a few of your hobbies?
Brandi’s biggest hobbies are working out and lifting weights. Brandi used to compete in powerlifting competitions in the events of squats, bench-press, and deadlifts! Her advice on trying to get into competitive sports is “just go do it!” She advises that the best to learn is through losing, and that one is better off jumping into competition and losing rather than waiting for the “right” moment and never actually taking the risk.
What are your best methods for dealing with obstacles or stress that come with your role?
When dealing with challenges and obstacles in her work, Brandi welcomes the issue and works hard to understand why it occurred and how we can better manage these issues in the future. She enjoys finding problems or obstacles, as they give her an opportunity to do her job better and improve client to employee communication.
How has your impression or understanding of Datawatch changed over the past 20 years?
When Brandi began at Datawatch, the company was much smaller than it is today. As she has grown and developed alongside the company, Brandi has enjoyed the broadening of the reach and advancement in technologies Datawatch has experienced. It makes things feel fresh, fun, and innovative despite her being such an integral figure throughout the past 20 years.
What makes Datawatch special to you?
Brandi believes customer service is what makes Datawatch special. She finds that the customer service approach at Datawatch is very exploratory and proactive, attempting to discover issues before they become bigger problems and finding every way to improve customer experience.
Who are some of your biggest inspirations?
Brandi’s biggest inspirations are her children. Brandi is inspired by her kid’s ability to seek knowledge and new experiences, whether it be learning about a fun new academic topic or trying out for a flag football team on their own volition. As her children grow, Brandi enjoys seeing them further develop their individuality while still maintaining some striking similarities to herself. While one of her children may urge her to try new things and take risks, another may teach her how to take a step back and look at the big picture.
What is your best office memory?
Brandi’s fondest memories consist of the ‘small things,’ like messing around with her coworkers and team around the office. One time when a member of her team was out of the office, Brandi and the rest of her coworkers created a fake version of him with boxes so they would not miss him too much!
Additionally, she enjoys employee events like company parties and picnics. Her favorite event was a big picnic with the entire company.
